Building for What's Next: Expanding US Signal's Des Moines Data Center

US Signal is growing in Iowa. We’re expanding our Des Moines data center to meet the increasing demand for high-density, high-performance infrastructure. This new phase will add significant capacity and advanced cooling capabilities, helping our customers power the next generation of workloads, from AI to mission-critical enterprise applications.

As the data center manager here in Des Moines, I couldn’t be more excited. This expansion isn’t just about adding space. It’s about giving our customers more room to grow, more power to innovate, and more flexibility to meet whatever comes next.

Built for the Future

Technology is evolving fast, and we’re seeing more demand for environments that can support high-performance computing. Customers are asking about 20- and 30-kilowatt racks and liquid-cooled systems. They want to push their infrastructure further, and we want to make sure we can deliver.

That’s what this expansion is all about. It’s designed to provide the power, flexibility, and cooling efficiency needed for next-generation workloads. Whether a customer needs a small deployment or an entire room of high-density racks, we’ll have the capacity and systems in place to make it happen.

Efficient, Sustainable, and Scalable

The new expansion has been thoughtfully engineered to balance performance with sustainability. We’re optimizing every aspect of the design, from how power is distributed to how heat is managed, to ensure it’s both efficient and scalable.

By building smarter, we’re setting the stage for long-term growth while minimizing energy use. It’s an approach that keeps our customers’ systems performing at their best while helping them meet their own sustainability goals.

A Team That’s Grown With the Facility

I’ve been with this facility for 16 years, and my lead tech has been here for 15. That kind of tenure is rare in our industry, and it gives us a deep understanding of how everything operates, from the physical infrastructure to the unique needs of the customers we serve.

Our team’s experience means we can respond quickly, solve problems efficiently, and keep our customers’ operations running smoothly. We’ve grown right alongside this facility and the businesses that rely on it, and that’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

Excited for What’s Next

What excites me most about this project is the potential it brings. We’ll still be ready for customers who need one or two cabinets, but we’ll also have the scale to support much larger deployments. We’ll be able to say yes to projects that once might have required a different location, including production workloads, disaster recovery environments, or large AI builds, and deliver them all right here in Iowa.

Des Moines continues to grow as a technology hub, and it’s exciting to see US Signal investing in that future.

Progress on the Des Moines Expansion

The Des Moines expansion marks an important milestone for US Signal and the customers who rely on this facility. With additional power capacity, advanced cooling systems, and expanded floor space now in place, the site is better equipped to support high-density workloads and modern infrastructure deployments.

For organizations looking to scale their infrastructure, this expansion ensures the Des Moines data center can continue to deliver the performance, reliability, and flexibility required for AI workloads, high-performance computing, and enterprise applications.
