US Signal Cloud Strategy – The future is multi-cloud

With the public release of OpenCloud last week, I wanted to share our strategy for US Signal Cloud products. The launch of OpenCloud was to provide another option in an expanding landscape of cloud and virtualization solutions, offering a predictable cost model and native cloud features such as self-provisioning, auto-scaling, robust API, and containers as a first-class citizen, all with a partner that cares about your business-critical IT needs. This was the missing piece of the puzzle to round out our solutions, ensuring we could provide options for any enterprise, regardless of where they were on their journey.

At US Signal, we believe the future is a mix of clouds; there is not a one-size-fits-all. Here are our supported options:

OpenCloud – An open-source cloud platform based on Apache CloudStack, available in multi-tenant or dedicated configurations. Ideal for monolithic apps, burstable workloads (autoscaling virtual machines), containers, and micro-service applications. Leveraging the power of the open-source community increases R&D cycles to the product to make sure it is staying ahead of the curve. Customers can purchase by the t-shirt size instance or dedicated servers (coming soon) with a flexible committed or non-committed consumption plan.

Enterprise Cloud – A VMware-based virtualization platform that is available in multi-tenant or dedicated configurations. This option is perfect for workloads that have ties to specific ISVs, with Zerto being the most requested. It suits enterprises that have mature operations developed with trained staff. Customers can purchase resource units of compute/memory or dedicated servers.

Reliacloud3 – A Nutanix-based platform that is available exclusively in dedicated configurations. Perfect for all workloads with a predictable cost model and a “free” hyper-visor with AHV. US Signal(formerly OneNeck) is on its third generation of offering with Nutanix and has mature operations, reporting, automation, and performance tuning. Customers can purchase dedicated servers on this hyper-converged platform and we perform the management.

Public Cloud – As of writing, Azure is the supported hyper-scale public cloud. Perfect for micro-service workloads, burstable resources, and geo-specific placement across the world. Customers can rebill their Azure resources through US Signal and take advantage of our advanced managed services that span networking, virtual servers, containers, storage, databases, and more.

All options come with US Signal’s high touch support, essential for enterprises aiming to operate their business in a cost effective and predictable manner. We recognize that there is not a one-size-fits-all cloud, which is why we offer our customers various options. Add that with our Operations Anywhere philosophy and product set, we provide tools that work seamlessly across all cloud options, ensuring you have a unified solution for your IT needs After 17 years, cloud and virtualization market and technology is still as exciting as when I first experienced VMware GSX. I look forward to the future and where AI will push us as technologists, this is the next wave.
